National Ayrshire Convention - Tour Day

TOUR DAY

A wonderful presentation was given from the various tours that were held on Wednesday. We were fed very well, given great tours, given wonderful hospitality and saw some beautiful Ayrshire cattle.

We started out with Lely Robotics at their training facilities, learning about the new technology that is available through out the country. Fellow Ayrshire breeder, Linda Hanson of Good-Vue in Minnesota added great perspective and information to the presentations as a newly established and transitioned robotic herd. Also learning how their assembly and shipping center works. Projections show that there will be about 3000 Lely robotic milkers in the United States by the end of 2017.

IOW-AYR / YARRABEE FARMS
Lang Family

We were given a beautiful presentation of the top Ayrshires from Yarrabee Farms out on the front pasture, and had the privileged of seeing the elite Right-Angle T Harley! They had a feed representative present to discuss crops and corn production, herding dog trials along with border collie puppies and great company.

IOW-SHIRE
Machin Family

In the evening we went on to the Iow-Shire farm of the Machin family. They recently completed a double ten rapid exit parallel parlor with a herd of 83 milking ALL Ayrshires. Self guided tour and a beautiful dinner and relaxing evening with Machin family.
