California Holstein enthusiasts gathered in Tulare, California, this week for the Spring Show and Classic Sale. The sale was held Thursday evening, April 20 with 21 Holsteins and embryo packages and six Jersey and an embryo package selling. The Holsteins averaged $3419 while the Jerseys had a $2833 average.
Top selling female was MS Malarky-LR BKW Lady-ET at $10,000. The silky 87-point Brokaw daughter sold fresh in March and with a Very Good Mammary score. Consigned by Miles, Kanani and Soren Price of Martinton, Illinois, she is backed by an EX-92 Sanchez with records to 34,351M 1,206F 1,051P and a blue ribbon winner in her own right at the Illinois State Show and Show. The next dam is an 88-point Goldwyn in Canada out of the EX-94 Lylhaven Lila Z. Two more 94-point dams including the Gold Medal, Dam of Merit Lylehaven Form Laura-ET back her. Summer Parreira led the enthusatic bidding and was all smiles as her dad congratulated her on winning the bidding war to take Lady home.
Another excited young lady, Grace Wilbur took home the second-high seller, HMG Union Zoey. She is a September 2016 Our-Favorite Union 142-ET daughter out of the famous Ocean-View Zandra family. Her Million dame is VG-86/VG MS dam made 44,490M 1,730F 1,247P out of the 93-3E Zamara with 188,590M 8,407F 6,100P daughter of 2E-95 GMD, DOM, All-American honored Zandra. She was consigned by Henry M. Grossi.
The high-selling Jersey was a first choice female out of Hazelcrest Governor Molly, named Grand Champion earlier in the day during the Jersey show. Scored 91-points, her Fizz daughters are due in December. Consigned by Nicole Sanders of Fire Lake Jerseys the choice was struck off at $4900.
